Busy but FUN weekend!!!

many ups and downs recently, but what they say is true, the downs were actually blessing in disguise; without the downs, there will not be the ups! haha.

up and downs till i fell sick and worse, still have to mug for test. but after test, i am a happygirl!

Congrats Kevin and Chanel!!

Jam's 'brother' got married on sat. wedding lunch at fort canning 'the Legends'. poor jam had to wake up at 6am to help in the wedding prep. For me, i slept till 11am then 'daytona' with my very 'un-daytona' car (parent's stream) to the place! My first time gg to 'the legends' , pretty cosy and fun cos Jam 'brothers' all very friendly and jovial kind. Very nice wedding gift for the guest, a photo album and luggage tag!!

after that went to see see furniture at PArk MAll. super tempted by the 'waterfall' shower thingy but 1k plus lorz, worth it ma? the paintings there also nice, everyting there nice but EX. nvm, go there just get some ideas.

then aunt called, saying why we not at gugu's place cos it's little victoria 1st mth...gosh, my mum have gotten the dates mixed up. so there we rush to gugu's place to see cute little victoria. gugu very nice, cook glutaneous rice and cousin nick bought yummy crabs. eat eat eat.

went home tired but happy

Mac breakfast and sisters gathering!!

woke up at crazy 7am to eat Mac breakfast. really crazy lorz. 7am!!! drove to ECP, finally got the chance to eat Mcgriddles, yummy! then went to enjoy the sea breeze, see floods of ppl running marathons organised by 'run for hope' i tink. felt so guilty, cos ppl wake up at 7am to jog, i wake up at 7am to eat MAc!?!?! vowed to jog more often.

lunch was 'auston express', yeah! the herbal grilled fish with spag salad and fries is a blast!! delicous! i live to eat (and my waistline is showing it!)

after that went to meet my 'sisters' at bugis. at first we wanna go for steamboat but everyone very full, so we ended up at MOF. been there once, tot the food was soso, this time round, the food is still soso, dun tink will go again. but it was fun chatting giggling gossiping with the girls. really glad tat though each of us are in totally different work (a career banker, a well-travelled SIA exec, a nice teacher, a happy mother, a successful accountant and me in science) we are still as 'clickable' as ever!

after that went to fetch parents back fm their cambodia trip. they had so many fun at ang kor wat. so envious, i also wan to go holiday!!! after that had yummy chicken rice before heading home.

tired but happy

Another beautiful poem

IF

IF you can keep your head when all about you Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,But make allowance for their doubting too;If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,Or being hated, don't give way to hating,And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

If you can dream - and not make dreams your master; If you can think - and not make thoughts your aim;If you can meet with Triumph and DisasterAnd treat those two impostors just the same;If you can bear to hear the truth you've spokenTwisted by knaves to make a trap for fools,Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools:

If you can make one heap of all your winnings And risk it on one turn of pitch-and-toss,And lose, and start again at your beginningsAnd never breathe a word about your loss;If you can force your heart and nerve and sinewTo serve your turn long after they are gone,And so hold on when there is nothing in youExcept the Will which says to them: 'Hold on!'

If you can talk with crowds and keep your virtue,' Or walk with Kings - nor lose the common touch,if neither foes nor loving friends can hurt you,If all men count with you, but none too much;If you can fill the unforgiving minuteWith sixty seconds' worth of distance run,Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,And - which is more - you'll be a Man, my son!

thought-provoking day

Today 'wo bao' got 2 meaningful articles...

one was english one, sth abt lanterns and stars which tell the story abt a wealthy king bring his little son to visit the poor, then the king asked the son what he learnt:

he answered: 'we have one dogs, they have 4; we have a garden but they have fields that spread for miles; we have a pond but they have a creek that flows endlessly; we have imported lanterns but they can see the whole sky of stars;we have ppl to serve us, but they serve others...thanks dad for showing how poor we are'

meaningful.

another was a chinese article on how to be calm and charismatic. In it, it talked abt zhu ge liang. wow, i din noe zhu ge liang got wife one, and wow i din noe zhu ge liang got taste one, he din fall for some prettylicious babe but a average looking woman with a great brain. *salute*

came home watch 'human spirit', today 2nd part on malcom (alzheimer patient) and barbara (his loving wife who took care of him till his last day). the documentary was filmed over 11 years, and we saw how a talented musician is reduced to a little boy and later, into a pack of skeletons. it is very very sad. like what barbara said: only love can make her go through all this...'

so many weddings these days :P

Congrats Charmaine and hubby

just went for a wedding lunch last week, this week gg for wed dinner. so many weddings, more coming up...is it cos of my age, where many ppl marry ard this age, or is the govt baby bonus package thats tempting? haha. of cos i tink its the former...

Mugmugmug

The Human Spirit:

today very tired, wanna go straight home to rest after work, but gotta help dabao food to parents first. wait queue pay carry. very clumsy today, and almost forgot to take the green bean soup, heng the nice auntie shouted loud to me, nice aunty, will always buy dessert fm u :P

reached home super shack, finally got time to have some quiet time to myself, so watched superband while eating my super cold beehoon (cos of the travelling). tot superband is so-so, perhaps i have missed the good groups, but i like 'Tu Zi', cos as girls, they sang and even played the instruments better than the other guy contestants!

just as i was abt to switch off tv, i saw the human spirit show gg to start. today its about a wife great love to her alzhiemer's husband. the documentary followed their lives, fm the start of alzheimer. at first he only forgetful, then he became to act like a kid, always scold and even pull his wife's hair and grabbed her. but the amazing wife. always there for him. even when he soiled his pants while standing up and walked around the whole house stepping on his own 'cake'.

during the interview, the wife said: i must constantly remind myself that what has happened is not markus fault, its the disease that is causing him to be lik dat.'

this documentary not only showed us what alzheimer is really like, but also demonstrated the great love that a wife can have for her hubby....

Shopping and Masala ART

Sat shopping at Bugis, whee~~

Ate at the fish and chip store at the basement, first time there. the marinara spag was so-so, cos it was served quite cold and the fish a bit...fishy (dunno how to describe it better, haha). but the mixed platter thingy (with fried chicken, calamari and fries) is good!! overall ok, considering the food wasn't that ex (cos no service charge).

after that tried the yoghurt store nearby, ordered the mango peach yoghurt drink, now promotion only $2.50, cheap and yummy!

then went shopping, target is 'Fashion Lab' cos got sales for 2 items, where 2nd item 20% off. Realised now a bit fat, tried some of the clothes not nice, haha. but in the end settled for 2 dresses (one nice green 'silky-kind' dress and one white summer dress) for ard $120+. Happy!

Masala ART: Congrats Promo and Gamini!

Yeah, it is promoda's, my ntu coursemate, wedding lunch at masala art http://www.masalaart.com.sg/Masala_New/main.htm

simple affair with a lunch buffet. me and pat mingled with promo's other frens from nus and ntu. a couple of them said i looked familiar, maybe cos i was always running ard in nus back then, haha

wow, the spread of food is good, with naan, mutton, chicken, rice, fish etc etc. I loved the naan best, followed by the satay-chicken thingy followed by the mutton, gosh thinking abt it makes my saliva drip....

gosh, how weekend flies. why can't weekends be longer?!? grinz

strive to be happy

not in the best of luck these days...

came home after a hard day at work, super tired, decided to destress by playing psp and viwawa, ended up losing at both games, making me more demoralised and sianz, haha

decided to sleep early, but cannot sleep, so just turned on tv to see whether got funny shows to cheer me up.

well, turned out that the tv8 is showing 'successful ppl', today was abt a young guy who got cancer but he never gave up, in fact he became a successful entrepreneur with several businesses.

one sentence he said: u never noe the pain of cancer unless u urself is a cancer patient...

it made me think: now i am healthy and well, i really 生在福中不知福。。。。

whenever i am depressed and sad, it seems that god will never fail to remind me how lucky i am,grinz

we were very lucky to be able to have a tour at the suites too! the most ex one is good for couples, very purple and the selling point is the outdoor jacuzzi and even though there seemed to be some tall buildings everywhere, qy said it has been tested to be out of sight! amazing. I prefer the other suite with a nice living room, nice balcony, and nice bedroom.

great meeting the girls for good old gossips and chitchat. wil see u all soon manz :)

What a beautiful poem!

Desiderata - Max Ehrman

Desiderata
Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.
If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter, for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble;it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery.
But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe no less than the trees and the stars;you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you,no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be.
And whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams,it is still a beautiful world.
Be cheerful.
Strive to be happy.

never give up in the worst of situations

I was reading this good article from TODAY and I find it very motivating:

There is a owner and his donkey. While walking past a well, the donkey fell into the well. As it was difficult to save the donkey, the owner decided not to, as he also intended to have the well covered. So together with his friends, the owner threw sand into the well. The donkey shrieked and shrieked but suddenly, there was silence. The owner and friends wondered why.

It turned out that with each plough of sand into the well, the donkey let the sand fall, so he can use it to climb up inch by inch. Slowly and steathily, he climbed upwards and out of the well....

Motivating story huh, sorry if my english sucks, cos I typed what I remembered, may not be grammetically correct, but you get the idea right?haha

2. haibihiam with bakkua on wanton skin

A brunette is walking through the country, when she finds a bottle. She rubs it and, you guessed it, a genie appears.
The genie says, "You are allowed three wishes. But, I must warn you, anything you get, all the blondes in the world get twice as much."
The woman says, "Okay. Give me a nice house."
The genie replies, "You now have one nice house and all the blondes in the world have two."
The the lady says, "Give me a gorgeous man."
The genie replies, "You now have one gorgeous man, while all the blondes have two."
The lady says, "For my last wish, Genie, see that stick over there? Beat me half to death with it."

2 funny jokes

Engineer in hell
An engineer dies and reports to the pearly gates. St. Peter checks his dossier and says, "Ah, you're an engineer -- you're in the wrong place."
So, the engineer reports to the gates of hell and is let in. Pretty soon, the engineer gets dissatisfied with the level of comfort in hell, and starts designing and building improvements. After awhile, they've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and the engineer is a pretty popular guy.
One day, God calls Satan up on the telephone and says with a sneer, "So, how's it going down there in hell?"
Satan replies, "Hey, things are going great. We've got air conditioning and flush toilets and escalators, and there's no telling what this engineer is going to come up with next."
God replies, "What??? You've got an engineer? That's a mistake -- he should never have gotten down there; send him up here."
Satan says, "No way. I like having an engineer on the staff, and I'm keeping him."
God says, "Send him back up here or I'll sue."
Satan laughs uproariously and answers, "Yeah, right. And just where are YOU going to get a lawyer?"

Fastest dad
Three young boys were fighting over whose dad was the best.
"My dad is so good he can shoot an arrow, run after it, get in front of it, and catch it in his bare hands."
"My dad is so good that he can shoot a gun, run after the bullet, get in front of it and catch it in his bare hands."
"I've got you both beat. My dad's so good because he works for the city. He gets off work at 5:00 and is home by 4:30."

searching for girl's best fren

this weekend spent researching on girl's best fren.

went to different shops to look, wah, girl's best fren is not that simple, need to know her size, her colour, her clarity and cut. for us, the most impt C is for COST!

we decided to stick back to the shop that we bought for vday, cos can trade in. but the service at that particular branch was lacklustre, not an exactly nice buying experience. if not for the trade in thingy, wil have changed to another brand with much better service.

here's a summary of what i think:

1) Hearts on fire by Tianpo
Very nice cut of hearts and arrows! it totally blew us away! a bonus: the salesperson at vivo is friendly and nice too, stating facts w/o being pushy, very professional. but do take note that it is more costly cos gd quality ma.....

2) Briliant rose by Sookee
Nice fancy design with 66 cuts. price also on the higher side cos nice ma. service differs with different branches, strange.

3) Destinee by Lee hwa
Also not bad but too costly for us.

I think most impt is choose one that u like! cos when i ask one of the sales whether it got any value, he said matter-of-factly: 'well, these are luxury items, cannot compare to gold lah, haha.' nice good answer to me. :P

oh, little matchgirl got sale!whee~~

Beauty retail therapy!

after work went shopping with XGM and sister! today sister got drive, so free ride to orchard to meet XGM,hehe

had dinner at MOS cos dun wan to waste time. 8282 philosophy: chop chop eat, then can slowly shop!

XGM wanna look at makeup today, so taka we went. so many makeup counters. went around see see look look test test, very fun! xgm whack the lancome counter, bought mascara, primer,blusher,2way cake etcetc... the gift for lancome for above $160 purchases is quite good, a travel pouch with mini mascara, eye liner, lipstick n more!

me whack the shu umera counter, grinz. the counter salesguy was good, he put on makeup (mascara, blusher and some glow on thingy on my eyes) for me and viola, got difference sia! but too bad he gg back to malaysia to do free-lance, me and xgm were kindof disappointed cos we tot next time can return to him to do our makeup!

what i bought fm shu umera:
1) glow-on blush (peach 47) $40
2) glow-on blush (gold 91) - $40 this one to highlight the eyes for 3D effect, amazing!
3) Eyelash curler -$24
4) High performance balancing cleansing oil - $53 the pink bottle make-up remover for oily skin
Total damage done: $157 !!!
(consolation was I had a $20 taka voucher and a free gift of skincare (toner, moisturizing, some anti-aging cream) and shu umera membership card, whee~)

Some great beauty advice from 82sis who used to sell skincare:

1) Estee Launder for lipstick and mascara
(I agree that estee lipstick is long-lasting cos my mum only buys estee lipsticks, hehe, for myself, i like the mascara from anna sui, hehe)
2) Lancome for 2waycake
(added to my wishlist...)
3) Shu umera for blusher and make-up remover and the 'pearly' sunblock
(just bought the 1st 2 today, sunblock too ex for me)
4) Laniege for the strawberry yoghurt mask
(added to my wishlist....)
5) Mac for eyeshadow and blusher
(added to my wishlist...)
and her final beauty advice: quality makeup/skincare are good investments, cos we will noe when we age

Points noted. :P

little update on the nittygriity of my not-so-boring lifez:P

Jam bday

went to eat dinner at a renowned jap restaurant recommended by davi babe. http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/himawari_japanese_restaurant_neil_road/

had the dinner buffet which includes unlimited rounds of jap dishes such as sashimi (yummy, the assorted sashimi including salmon, white fish, octopus were darn fresh and we had an unbelievable 3 rounds of it!) , soft shell crab, grilled beef, tempura and even shabushabu!!! though the price is quite steep at $40plus per pax, its quite worth it i think.

the jap boss who is also the chef is super friendly, making a point to go around the tables to talk to his customers. jam had a nice surprise when the jap boss came out with a scoop of green tea ice cream and a 'singing' candle!

good bday dinner :)

Happy Father's day!

Jam booked the Rama Thai buffet lunch for dad.

I had a near accident when driving us to the restaurant. really scared me out of my wits. first time i was so close to having a collision with another car. I really thank god that everyting was ok, car is ok and most importantly, all of us were not injured.

the rama thai lunch buffet spread was ok, aroung 20plus per pax. there were fried chicken wings (Jam's fave), black pepper crab (my fave), thai kuehs (dad's fave) and satay (mum's fave). as dad is quite fussy abt food, we were really happy that he liked the food there and he ate a lot (till he got food indigestion in the evening...)

my father's day gift is euro cup season pass, $55+++, haha

Farewell Sutri

My good family helper of 3 years plus, Sutri, has decided to end her contract, cos she wanna go taiwan. tried to make her stay, but to no avail, then just a few days before her flight, she wanna stay! but too late le, cos all arrangements have been made.

went with mum to bade her farewell. Now when I am writing this, I am already missing her, miss her usual bochup/aloof/tomboyish attitude, miss her smiles (which are super rare) when i help her do little things, miss seeing her playing with my dear comfort... but she promise to come and visit us if she manages to work in singapore again.

after she went in, me and mum went to have our dinner. first time we took the skytrain from term1 to term2. went to see our fave food, sashimi, at sakae sushi. due to classes, very seldom had the chance to eat out with mum, but now hols, had the chance to eat with mum more. :)

Farewell XGM

my xian gan ma has left our workplace :(

lunch was yummy toasted bread made by xian gan ma using nanny's toaster, grinz. toasted bread with all kinds of fillings, such as tuna, smoked cheese, ham and even mashmallow and chocolate in all kinds of permutations and combinations!!! when the bread ran out, we had to come out with innovative ways to toast such as toasting cheese on hams etc...was great fun, and the toasted bread taasted especially nice as it was made by xgm.

we had farewell dinner at The Magic of Chongjin Hot Pot recommended by nanny and mish. http://www.hungrygowhere.com/singapore/the_magic_of_chongqing_hot_pot/ wow, there are different grades of mala base. being scary cats, we tried the normal mala. but as we ate, we got more adventurous and promoted to the more spicy grade, whcih is super shiok!!!

there is a great variety of choices for the steamboat, from the usual meat, prawns to more 'exotic' stuff like ox's tongue, cockles, glizzards etc, we just eat and eat. i tried the '8 treasure tea', din really like it, too 'herbal' for me i guess.

at the end, xgm shocked us all by giving us a treat! so nice and generous of her, cos the buffet was not cheap, ard $30++ per pax.

thanks XGM and all the best yar! :)

So you think u can dance is back!!!

went home feeling very sick, think i ate wrong food in the weekend

so once reached home, decided to nuah in front of the tv, as usual watched 'the legend' on dvd, gosh the drama's really slow, so i switched channels and guess wat, so u think u can dance is back!!! awesome! some of them dance really well, 4 left a deep impression, one is a hiphop dancer who somersauts down the stage then jump back then samersauts across a box, amazing! another is his hiphop team mate who though big, can dance so well, and the other 2 is the teacher/student, the student is talented with great bod and the teacher is talent with... more talent!

after that switched channels and on CNA its show 'the world's smallest mum'. many ppl always tot midgets (or 'drawfs') can't give birth but this strong little woman proved all wrong, she married a great man and have such a cute little daughter.

losing my voice, sianz, just eaten one panadol...shall sleep by 12 today...

Girly WEekend, YipyipHooRayyyy!

Sec galfrens
fri after work went to city hall to meet dear pam, qiyun and lijing. wah, whole city hall mrt super crowded, realise later that the reason could be due to the late nite shopping thingy. everywhere super duper crowded, where to eat???

so decided to try out ms clarity at siah street, BUT there was longgggggg q too, need to wait 1hr ley! in the end went to rocky master. got one at my workplace, so i ask them to try out. tot the one at my workplace will be cheaper, but it is the same cost sia. me, qy and pam shared bbq wings, sausage with wedges and bbq chicken pizza, each pax only $10 each, cheap!

dinner was fun, talked and laughed a lot, esp when lj sharing her dating experiences with qy and pam asking very funny qns, grinz. once we laughed too loud and the shop waiter actually gave a louder high-pitch shriek, as to 'warn' us we were too loud, aargh! come on, we are customers ok?!

after that went for dessert at cityhall at coffee club. halfway me and pam 'sneaked' out to watch the live band perfomance at the atrium, wah, the main female lead is good with her distincitive husky voice, the band name's 'ministry of bellz'..

JC galfrens
sat woke up 1030am, gosh, meeting at 11am (again at city hal, wats with cityhall?!?!), gg to be late! then when about to leave, it poured cats and dogs! bo pian, had to call davina babe (the bday girl) to give me a lift. she's really coolz in her white R2! then went to get Jacqi...all of us wondering why we chose such a nice rainy weather to meeT! shouldn't us be in bed???

we and hm reached city hall at 12plus, super late, poor jill, she is the earliest being punctual, we all felt very paisey... went to thai express to eat. i ordered the tang hoon chicken broth, cos the menu said 'light and nutritous'. so true, cos it was not yummy at all, too nutritious manz, haha. lx was late as usual, haha. dav babes brought some of the clothes and bags she selling online http://www.newageshopping.blogspot.com/ . I bought the white sheer flowy top from her, nice nice :P think for most of the lunch, all of us were quite 'stoned' like zombie, due to lack of sleep, guess no more early lunch gatherings on sat...

after that went to eat dessert at the french cafe next to ben&jerry. we tried 3 diff desserts: 'Nougoutine'crepe (sweet sweet), rasberry ice cream thingy (sour) and 66% chocolate (bitter). the 66% chocolate was a little too bitter for my liking. the rasberry is nice and sour.but my fave is the Nougatine crepe, the crepe got nutella stuffing which goes well with praline ice cream, YUMMY!!!

felt happy meeting my galfrens over these 2 days, really relaxing to laugh and gossip with them! :P

Geylang makan

went to makan at geylang today.

took to aljunied mrt, walked along lorong 25 and can't really see much good food. heng i got ask my dear colleague, sc, where to eat, she said lorong 29 got nice prawn mee, and lorong 9 got good beef kway tiou and frog porriadge. so we walk and walk, apparently we very 'lu qi' (road idiots) and seem to lost our way. in the end had to ask bus driver and take bus the lorong 9,grinz

ordered the beef kuay tiow, wah, damn nice and so much beef (so still quite worth at $5). the frog porriadge is nice, but $10 (for 2pax) is too steep i tink cos dun have much frog to eat, a few mouths then gone le. first time eat frog, din really like it, the frog meat tastes a mix bet fish and chicken...we ordered one more 'au jian', not fantastic and ex ($4). a simple meal like dat cost an unbelieavable $20 for 2!

Was a tad disappointed for this movie, found it a little dark and boring at certain parts, and the ending...i still prefer the old indiana jones movies, grinz. BUT hearing the trademark indiano jones tune 'de de de de, de de de, dedededede' (u get the idea) never fails to put a smile on my face.hehe

HapPy WeEkend!

Sat Arts Festival

went to the boat quay arts festival to check out their grand opening, apparently some performance on water. reached there 7.40 already super full of people, super crowded (show starting at 8pm) only can see ppl's heads in front of me.

front part of the show is super artistic, someone rowing a boat, got car floating on water, most memoral is a lady in red riding on a big wheel in the water powered by a man below her (hmm, this description seems weird, aniway u get the idea) ...

the ending is POWER, darn chio fireworks, a good 15min of fireworks, fantastic!

after the show walked to clark quay there to try out the famous bak kut teh. Jam likes the bak kut a lot. we both like the intestines, yumyum! the salted vege and peanuts is erm, so-so. we very heng to be early, cos a few more minutes, everyting is sold out...grinz

Sun Food Expo (eat eat eat!)

heathly sun, went to swim, grinz

after that went to food expo to settle dinner there. super super crowded, prob cos of sch hols. we ate chicken/sausage wrap with wedges (so-so), some shark fin soup (also so-so), laksa (woohoo, super yummy but $4 ley) and tried the toufu honeydew pudding (bleah...)

Presenting my BKK TRIP!!!

1st day Sawadika!
Took thai airways, quite good, got chio air stewardessese, grinz. loved the thai food served onboard (return flight even got white sashimi, yummy!)

while serving us food, the air stewardess is about to ask us whehter we wan chicken or beef in english, but she stopped halfway to look again at me, then look at Jam, then confidently asked: !#$#%^&**..? (chicken or beef in thai words). me and jam found it so amusing LOL.
reached there then not so happy le, COS WE WAITED FOR THE BLOODY TOUR BUS FOR FREAKING 1 HOUR PLUS!!! (the tour bus supposed to send us to the hotel) lesson learnt, never join 'ConXXxxxxxxx' agency!
but we were happy that our hotel is good 'Baiyorke Sky hotel' which is smacked in the middle of the busy platunum street, up to 80 plus levels, and first 5 levels are shops, best of all is we get to eat free breakfast at 73rd floor every morning, darn coolz.

the view out of our hotel room window on 29th floor

aniwaez spent evening at suan lum market, good food and a lot of things to see. hehe. ate the famous phad thai, tom yum and papaya salad for dinner at the open air hawker. don't really like phad thai cos the noodle very hard.

suan lum market hawker centre
there is a stage right in front, with ppl singing at nite

2nd day sight-seeing

woke up bright and cheery at 6.30am cos tour bus for the complimentary half day tour will come and pick us up at 7.30am

went to a temple along chao phraya river to pray pray.

along the river

trying to pose like the sculpture

pose pose

after that we were brought to a jewelery and honey shop, both is a waste of time.
then around noon, we were to taken to MBK cos the day tour finished le. bought a pair of skinny jeans (500bahts) there, later realised it is a bit too ex, compared to those at platinum mall... tried the new food court, its like 'marche' where u order with a card..prices are steep, but food still ok.

the green curry is SEDAP

after that went to four face buddha to pray pray. along the way we found a very hip and happening fashion area. clothes very 'designer' and nice, but not cheap. we very stingy so never buy aniting there.

late evening we took the mrt (not bad, got mtv to watch some more!) to explore a not very well-known nite market cum shopping centre at victoria monument square. wah, its filled with thai teenagers and things are cheap! too bad we were a little late and shops are closing...

3rd day- SHOP TILL WE DROP
realising we still got quite a lot of armor ($$$) remaining, we decided to go and whack platinum mall, the highly recommended shopping place by all! wow, the fashion there all very trendy and cheap! the catch is must buy 3 or more pieces to get good prices, but not a problem for me. met another sg couple there and we formed a mini 'attack team' in one of the shops which sell very nice dresses, since we bought total of 6 dresses, each dress cost only 170bahtS! ($8 only).same clothes as those selling at HULA in sg which cost ard 40plus. woohoo. the foodcourt upstairs is yummy and CHEAP! i loved the TUNA tomato CREPE, ate 2 days in a row!

one note is that you cannot really try the clothes, some are too small for us, heng we got one more day in thailand to go and change the size, and changing size is allowed, phew..

Proudly presenting my victory items!!!

went back to hotel then jam decided to tailor make one suit. as it is late, we went to the shop below our hotel. the 2 nepalese are very nice and honest (once jam dropped his passport in the fitting room, they ran out to chase us to return it, *impressed*) suit cost ard $150 sg, very nice, good buy!

at nite supposed go chinatown eat cheap seafood, but raining cats and dogs, so had to settle for one seafood restaurent near our hotel. food is good but not cheap, ard 900 bahts (40plus sg) for a crab, pineapple rice and tom yum..

then went to the pub at the top of the hotel to have a drink, very nice night scenery!

last day- home sweet home

morning went to buy thai food stuffs to bring back home to eat. we went to chinatown to get the food stuff, but cannot find, we ask one of the shopkeeper where is the tidbits and stuff? he said: chinatown only sell chinese food stuff and tidbitS!!! aargh, wasted our taxi money, in the end had to go MBK to buy. grinz

went to platinum to change the size for some of the clothes and did some last min shopping, anihow whack.

after that home sweet home!

why does chn medicine tastes so yucky?

today leg slightly better but towards end of the day, prob due to standing whole day during work,my leg still hurts while walking back home...

so better carry on eat the chn medicine. the chn physician prescribed me one packet of pills which is ok, cos easy to swallow (but 4 pills each time is a bit much...). the yucky one is the brown powder which come in packets and i gotta dissolve one packet in hot water to drink each time. wah sey, after dissolving, it sure looks like mud, and it tastes just like mud (i think, cos i never taste mud before). horrid horrid horrid. i gotta take a deep breath, pinch my nose and try to gulp the whole thing in, darn challenging with little success (i usually end up spitting most of them out, haha)

良药苦口,oh so true............

another joke from igoogle's 'joke of the day'

A couple had two little boys, ages eight and ten, who were excessively mischievous. The two were always getting into trouble and their parents could be confident that if any mischief occurred in their town, their two young sons were involved in some capacity.

The parents were at their wit's end as to what to do about their sons' behavior. The parents had heard that a clergyman in town had been successful in disciplining children in the past, so they contacted him, and he agreed to give it his best shot. He asked to see the boys individually, so the eight-year-old was sent to meet with him first. The clergyman sat the boy down and asked him sternly, "Where is God?"

The boy made no response, so the clergyman repeated the question in an even sterner tone, "Where is God?"

Again the boy made no attempt to answer, so the clergyman raised his voice even more and shook his finger in the boy's face, "WHERE IS GOD?"

At that, the boy bolted from the room, ran directly home, and slammed himself in his closet. His older brother followed him into the closet and said, "What happened?"

The younger brother replied, "We are in BIG trouble this time. God is missing and they think we did it!"

leg pain pain

BKK is fun fun fun, lotsa lotsa lotsa shopping, gooten myself 22 pieces of clothings, diff kinds of accessories, a couple of shoes...

BUT i injured my leg while climbing one of the towers in a temple along the Chao Phraya river. Been walking with a limp since then.

Today my mum brought me to a chinese physician along joo chiat road called 'ong fujian chinese physician hall' they even got website ley at http://www.ongfujian.com.sg/. Quite professional. First, one of the physicians wrapped some hot stuff on the injured part, then did some massaged, before putting those hot suction tubes. Erm, the hot suction tubes is a bit pain, but hai hao. Then he wrapped my leg up in a bandage. Then gave me some chinese medicine, some powder stuff that need to dissolve in hot water and tablets (gotta eat 4 tablets each time, FOUR! mum said chinese tablets different fm western, need to eat more each time, haha)

My bandaged leg 1 *ouch* My bandaged leg 2 *ouch ouch*

mon oh mon

aargh, mon blues........

but good thing is, 4in1 arrived! sth to cheer us up in the morning. hehe

just came across a good joke from igoogle:

Marital Counseling
A husband and wife came for counseling after 20 years of marriage. When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 20 years they had been married.

She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of unmet needs she had endured over the course of their marriage.

Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the wife to stand, embraced and kissed her passionately as her husband watched with a raised eyebrow. The woman shut up and quietly sat down as though in a daze.

The therapist turned to the husband and said, "This is what your wife needs at least three times a week. Can you do this?"

The husband thought for a moment and replied, "Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I fish."

Another busy (and HOT, gosh the weather) week

HDB hub

first time doing all this, all the anxiety and stress (strange, its quite stressful too, grinz) .. we went early to look intently at the screen, hoping that our choice unit is not taken up, we waited and waited, when its finally our turn, we rushed in and phew, we gotten wat we want! phew... procedure pretty simple, signing, paying, a lot of paperwork but less than an hr, everyting's done and stragely, we dun feel like we have spent any $, though it could be the most expensive thing in our whole life...

Iron man
Nice movie! but call me biased, cos i like all superheros movies, fm transformers to X-men, i love them! Gwnethy paltrow is darn cool and chio in the movie, grinz

Santouka
Went Central 'santouka' to eat with colleagues. Its been ages since i last went there, i tink abt 3 mths and wellwell, this cosy little jap restaurent is getting more popular and getting packed with ppl.The ramen is really really yummy! this time i ordered the charsiew, gosh, so tender and sweet, will def go back there again

Korean restaurant
Tried a korean restaurant at bugis (those along the stretch of shophouses). ordered grilled fish set and bbq pork. Nice! bill came up to be slightly below $30, but food is pretty good, so still ok...

oh, went to the bugis street pasar malam to walk, got a little shop selling earrings atg really cheap prices, cheaper than those on sprees! ard $5 to as low as $1 per pair, gosh. cheap and nice!

Mother's day
went Ju bao restaurant at teck chye to celebrate. ordered the mother's day special menu. There were a lot of food, eat until tummy until wanna burst. Quite happy with the food.

Hothothot sun!

Woke up bright and early cos it was too hothothot....

did abit of tidying up again, this time my messy table and drawers...after that watched tv, got Chow Yan Fatt's 'Ah Lang Story' (very old movice) about a father and son, and the mum suddenly appeared 10 yrs later...veryvery touching story with a tragic ending, gosh, Chow really can act. Think the recent father son movies, aaron's and stephen's, kindof paled in comparison...

evening went to OG bugis to buy mother's day present. looked through all sorts of different bags, really took a long while before decided on the Picard red leather bag, hope she will like it.hehe

went home really tired, must be that hothothot weather....

Woke up lazy.

Did some tidying up of my room, as its been looking like a pig sty cos of @!#$ exams. First place to tidy up is wardrobe, clothes are not folded and in total mess...

went to see Jam's sec classmate babygirl's first mth. Oh-so-cute with a nice name: Le Xuan. Wah, flats at admiraty really BIG and spacious, but we got a hard time getting there, cos Jam and I are 'lu chi' (road idiots) and the streetdirectory is down these days...haha

later went to visit the HOMES exhibit at expo. wah, home reno is so ex ah... at least 20k for very basic stuff such as floorings, kitchen cabinets, etc, but if wan to beautify more, costs 30k +++, not including another 10k for furniture. gosh, nvm, slowly save up lorz, grinz

went home tired. why is it so hot and stuff these days???

yeah, exams over for this sem, hiphip hooray!

never been updating cos of $#%& exams, duh...

2 weeks of mugging and cramming for exams, admist waking up late, enjoying hearty breakfast and home cooked dinners, watching tv ('the arena', 'america's got talent', 'whos smarter than a 7th grader' and my fave, 'Ah-wang', the hk serial), and even playing online 'taidee' and bridge, hmm, lifes not that bad....but it is still very stressful, as can be seen from the number of pimples that pop out on my face, grinz.

and yesh, today's i m finally free! free fm books! (for a while, before next $&!@ sem...)

Chilli sauce
went with my coursemate Pat to bugis to have lunch after our paper. decided to eat at Phin's steakhouse, since their $12.90+ set lunch sounds good. i ordered the grilled dory, which is quite yummy. i added chilli sauce, then halfway thru the meal, i noticed that the chilli sauce bottle is full of bubbles, and out of curiosity, i went to open the cap, and guess wat, before i can open, the cap 'mini-exploded' with some chilli sauce oozing out. pat was shocked too and she called the waitress over. the waitress explained that the hot weather makes them to behave this way and it is 'normal'. hmm... aniwaez i told pat if anyting happens to me tml, we know wat is the reason, grinz.

Eat and shop at Suntec
went to suntec for dinner with jam. ate at swiss culture. the service there is good, they saw that i holding a bag, so they went to take a chair for me to put, and they are very friendly. the rosti with chicken is good, but jam's steak's a little too hard (next time must order 'medium' instead of 'medium-well'). one good thing is that there is no7% gst, only got 10% service charge.

then i discovered a mini shopping haven. despite gg to suntec often, i did not know there is an area selling clothes clothes and more clothes at level 3 above carrefour. went to browse some clothes at one shop called 'T&G simple life'. clothes are reasonably priced, ard 20 to 30bucks. the salesgirl is very friendly and nice, and after a little bargaining, i blew $50 for a dress and top with a smile on my face.

happy day.

Sat went to national lib at 3pm for project meeting with my ntu coursemates, and guess wat, the meeting lasted for 3++ LONG HOURS, guess i got super ONZ coursemates, but i learnt a lot. aniawez national lib level 9 upwards very condusive for studying, super quiet...

after that met jam and we went to my fave chicken rice stall at siah street: jin jin chicken rice. we ordered chicken (duh...), and the hainanese mixed vege and aloe vera drinks and that bill came to $18,20, much lower than i expected and they give a free packet of tissue! hehe

walked ard bugis, nothing much, was tempted to buy some clothes at pure Milk stall but i resisted, before gg home, went to the basement to grab a sausage ($2.80, gosh, so ex, we still tot $2, the price label so misleading...) and the fries with chedder sauce at $2, my fave!

Sunday stayed home watched tv, got S-pop concert, very entertaining. Jam bought fried rice, fishball soup and fried rice, all for $6. food at amk is cheap!!! eat until super full...

dinner went to try out this new korean restaurent at joo chiat road. quite a big restaurent but not many ppl. we realised why later. cos it is so @#!$ expensive! we ordered one bbq pork and a kimchi soup and our bill came to $52!!! we nearly fainted. the bbq pork is ok, and it comes with 8 side dishes, but the soupy stuff cannot make it. will never go there eat again.

another blonde joke which is quite funny! :P

Death Row in Women's Prison
Three women are about to be executed. One''s a brunette, one''s a redhead, and one''s a blonde. The guard brings the brunette forward and the executioner asks if she has any last requests. She says no, and the executioner shouts, "Ready! Aim…"
Suddenly the brunette yells, "EARTHQUAKE!!!"
Everyone is startled and throws themselves on the ground while she escapes.
The guard brings the redhead forward and the executioner asks if she has any last requests. She say no, and the executioner shouts, "Ready! Aim…"
Suddenly the redhead yells, "TORNADO!!!"
Everyone is startled and looks around for cover while she escapes.
By now the blonde has it all figured out. The guard brings her forward and the executioner asks if she has any last requests. She says no, and the executioner shouts, "Ready! Aim…"
And the blonde yells, "FIRE!!!"

Funny!

The Most Gruesome Death
There was a long, long line of spirits at the gate waiting to get into heaven. Not all these spirits could fit into heaven, so the ones who died the worst death would be allowed in. The first man in line started telling his story, "Well, Peter, you see, I knew that my wife was cheating on me so I decided to come home early from work one day to catch them in action. I got home and searched all over but I couldn''t find him. Then when I walked out onto the balcony, there he was dangling off the darn thing by his fingertips. So I ran and got a hammer then started beating him with it and he fell. Well, the fall didn't kill him, because he landed in a bush so I picked up the refrigerator and threw it on him. Although that killed him, the strain gave me a heart attack, and here I am." The next man came up and started his story. "St. Peter, I always work out on my balcony on the 14th floor of my apartment building. I was on my bike one day and I fell off when it flipped. I sailed over the rail and I thought ''Please God spare my life'' and he did. I caught on to a balcony below me. I was even happier when a man discovered me hanging there. But all of a sudden he started beating my hands with a hammer so I fell again. But the dear Lord saved me again when I landed in a bush. But I''m here now because the guy threw his refrigerator on top of me." It was now the third guy's turn to start his story. "Well, Peter, just picture this. I'm hiding butt naked in this married chick''s refrigerator....."

went to the marche-like jap restaurent for dinner to try try. heard fm frens it is good. the jap omelette (ham and bacon) was yummy. The salmon sashimi at $5.90 was fantastic *drool drool*. the prawn and bacon stick at $2.50 was good too! on the other hand, the fried teppan rice at $5.90 and ice cream waffle $5.90 were quite a let-down... our total bill came out to $31.50. there goes our $ again...

Super nuahing sat
Sat was raining whole day, so we gotta stay home, ended up watching 'Mo-Gong' (andy lau show) dvd. the movie was so-so and was quite draggy. eaten home-cooked dinner before gg out for supper at hk cafe. $8plus for the mango ice, a bit heart pain.

Short short weekend

Team-bonding Sat

Short weekend cos sat was team-bonding day. We had our team-bonding at orchid country club, although the place a bit 'wulu' , it is equipped with everyting, fm gold course to bowling. Nice place.

The team-bonding was fun, with games (similar to A-star orientation ones), good food (2 teabreaks and sit-down sumptious lunch), and of cos, the sitting down learning about personality, what a team means, the 4-s and 4 stages of a team etc...

ended ard 6pm, went home cos super tired, considering i slept only at 2am on Friday night after class...

Lazy sun (Horton: knockknock, who's there?)

Woke up feeling lazy cos of the grey weather.

Destress by watching cartoons (dvd), this time was 'Bambi' . Story very sweet, i esp loved the rabbit called 'thumper', so cute! I like watching cartoons, cos they bring me to another world, a place where everyting is simple, happy and peaceful amidst the little ups and downs.

Followed by more watching of tv on chan8 (Jin Shun Jia You - repeat). Jin Shun, despite her plain jane face, is so adorable with her humour and down-to-earth attidude. Jam bought me chicken rice for lunch, yummy!

Went to cathay grand for Horton movie. Hungry le by then, so we decided to try the new jap restaurant at b1. Pretty innovative, where other than conveyor belts with sushi (99cents per dish!!!), you can put your food (labelled on little ice cream sticks onto a small basket, bring to the counter so they will deliver to us later while we eat the sushi). Sushi was ok, i mean, 99cents, mai hiam larz. We ordered the king tempura cos singtel customers (just show ur mobile phone) gets 50% off. woohoo. The king tempura is good!

Horton! Yeah, another cartoon. The front part was a little boring, but it just got better and better. We esp loved the little furry thingy that goes 'wahhhhhhh' all the time, oh-so-cute. The show is somewhat refreshing, as it is not the usual 'romantic cartoon' or 'rags-to riches' plots. It is a simple story but there seems to be more than that.

I esp like these 2 quotes from Horton:
1) 'Even though you can't see them at all / A person's a person, no matter how small. '
2) ' I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. '

Found quite a good website on the movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0451079/

Went home tired but happy.

another weekend passes by so fast...

not been updating my little pink blog cos been a tad busy, with work (now need to do labwork in histology on top of my daily workload), school (projects projects and more projects, and 2.5 mths more to exams *gasp*) and not forgetting the important family and frens gatherings...

Relaxing Sat by the Beach

Lunch was at raffles town club 'The Chinese Restaurant' for Gabriel, my little newphew's 3rd bday. The kids had dim sum, well the aunts and uncles (me included) had a 6 course chinese meal. The food was pretty good, with scallop, shark's fin, steamed fish, prawns and my fave, mango pudding. Gabriel's parents were very nice to treat us with such good food. Yummy!

Went with Jam to East coast (ex-Big Splash area, wanna check out the revamp) for dinner. I asked Jam to park quite far away, cos i scared it will be crowded. in the end had to walk 15min to the place, along with jam's grumbling abt parking so far away, indeed a hungry man is an angry man, haha.

We tot there gg to be many restaurants there, but to our dissapointment, there are only 5, one western, one indian, one kopi old town, one sushi teh and one seafood restaurant. As the food was quite steep (we estimated it will cost ard $20 per pax), we went to good old KFC to eat. I had a good meal of original wings, mashed potatoe and coke ($5 only due to offer). Along the way back, we went to get Mac sundae via drive-thru...

Crowded sun

went to golden mile for lunch and while parking at golden mile complex, saw many thais sitting in big circles in the carpark having some gathering. Quite coolz. They all look happy, enjoying their suns too.

walked to golden mile food centre for late lunch. as not hungry, we walked ard level 2, there were many shops selling camping stuff, and I was eyeing this nice pink waterbottle bag (which i can use for jogging or for travelling). perhaps next pay i will go and get it.

had very late lunch there. ate the famous 'chong cheng' mee (but the stall is known for its chilli mee),my $3 mee had so many 'liao' (ingredients) such as towkuah, towgey, prawns, pork ribs, fishcake, egg, etc. eat until very full. Jam had the famous 'kway tiou' with green spinach. We tried the chocolate fondue stall, which is very good, i like it loads! Waffle, ice cream and foundue for $4 plus, cheap and yummy! more info can be found here
http://ieatishootipost.blogspot.com/search/label/9%20Golden%20Mile%20Food%20Centre

after a heavy meal, we went shopping at orchard cos john little got sale. driving there was $#%@ cos there were so many cars and poor jam kept driving in circles cos we kept missing the road signs, haha. the car jams could be due to suntec IT fair, grinz

oh well, another weekend that passes by so quickly...
