Holiday in China (tianjing) - Part 1

Food

Gotta mention the food first, the food here in tianjing is ....one word: AWESOME! the ppl here got a phase 'chuan zai shanghai, wan zai beijing, chi zai tianjing'! (clothes in shanghai, play in beijing, eat in tianjing) oh so true...

The food here is not only delicious, but they come in HUGE servings, literally eat until u drop! some of the speciality dishes include: Black fish (which comes in a big metal basin!) , tang bao, shui jian bao, beijing duck etc... It is cheap too, a meal of 4 big dishes comes up to about $20 sing, amazing.

one observation is that a lot of korean food here. din't see much jap food though, i miss my sashimi....

Shopping
All winter wear! so good, can save a bit. Bought jeans ($15 sing) and one pair of boots($20 sing) in tianjing city. Things in tianjing city are cheap but not in the industrial area, cos the industrial area are for expats. Sianz, Jam works in the industrial area, so again, i can't do much shopping, as things are not so cheap here.

Vanity trips
Had a manicure and pedicure, on top of that, did some nail art, total ard $30 sing. It is steep but that is cos i am in the industrial area, so bopian. The staffs were very friendly and nice too, and they were very careful, so that made up for the steep price.

Went to perm my hair today. It is a hair salon recommended by a local fren here. To play safe, i asked for their top stylist. The service was good, 'pampered' by 3 men (including the hair stylist) . One can observe that there are more male customers there, strange...Ended looking like a poodle and $100 sing poorer (cos i went for a higher end perm, which is supposed to do less damage to my hair), but was glad i tried it. Everyting must give it a try ma....

I also like the ice cream. after that went to walk ard trying to find 3/4 pedal pushers. 'little matchgirl' havg sale! but dun have my size...:( in the end got them fm bugis street, cheap and good, i really like that sales person, an auntie with thick hk accent, she very friendly and patient, will patronise her shop again. :)

Sun went to ikea. quite fun shopping for furniture! the fried chicken wings was also good. after that went to watch 'Lust Caution'. tony leung is darn charming........though draggy at a few scences, it is a good show with good plot.

not a bad weekend i had,grinz

Dear San Jiu Mu

When I grew up, we did not get to meet up often, only at the yearly xmas party organised by aunt flo. Though you only asked me simple questions like how I was doing, where I was working, am I attached etc, I remember the way you looked at me, it is the same way whenever i see my little cousins whom i helped my mum take care of when they were babies.

This Chinese New Year you came to my place for a relative chinese new year gathering. It was the first time you saw Jam. When I introed him to you, you smiled and I can sense the relief and even a little of pride that I have finally attached.

Went to see you again at ahma's place. You have become much thinner but there was so much strength and determination in your voice and eyes.

When I saw you at the hospital, you have become even thinner. It pains and saddens me. When I was about to leave, you looked at me for a unusally long while. In my heart, I knew somthing was amiss....

From the bottom of my heart, I want to thank you for taking care of me when I was young.

Suay day!

Jam's finally back after enjoying all the big fish and big meat in china!!! but today quite suay....

Jam Suay 1 - Oakley's pouch
His oakly sunglass's pouch is gone! he loved the pouch becos that pouch is really coolz, it can actually be used to wipe the sunglass. but he left it in the taxi on the way to my place....

Us Suay 2- St james tiger show
Jam happily showed 2 free tix tiger show in st. james. so we decided to go there tonight. while walking to the tanah merah mrt, a bus with the tiger show advert passed by...then we looked at the time at the advert, omg, it is fm 11am to 6PM!!! and both of us looked at our watch, it is already 7pm now! both of us still tot it will be a night event, cos of st james ma....

Us Suay 3- Sakae salmon sashimi
Need to think of backup plan. We said one of the first things we do when he is back is to eat our fave food: Salmon Sashimi from Sakae! so we made our way to bugis, cos got sakae there. When we reached, it was closed for renovation!!! omg....but we still very determined, hence we decided to go to PS sakae to eat, and heng, still managed to eat the sashimi, yummy!!!

Us Suay 4- comfort's biscuit
Went to Ps, at first wana buy dog biscuit for my good old comfort, so went to the pet shop at B2. and to our horror, it is also closed for renovation!!! wt'too'....but heng after reading their circular, they just relocated to another place, still at B2. and we did manage to get comfort's favorite chicken jerky biscuits.

US Suay 5 - Cafe Cartel
went to Cafe cartel to eat cake cos cakes after 9pm will be 50% off, but when reach there, there are NO MORE CAKES! darn. but we decided to go in and have a sundae instead. I took quite a while to choose, and fm that menu, i picked the one of the chocolate ice cream sundae which looked darn tasty in the menu, jam also tot so. but when it came, it was bleah! there were much more choco beans, nuts and balls in the sundae then ice cream. it was very sweet and kindof yucky... now i still got that weird taste in my mouth.

US Suay 6 - going back home
we wanted to hail a cab as alreadyquite late, 15min to 11pm, then when we saw the taxi queue, we nearly fainted. so decided to take bus to bedok interchange. When reach bedok interchange, there is no one queuing for bus 38 which will go to my place. at first i still tot no more bus 38 le, but we saw the time, shd have. and we waited a #%%! 15 min for it....

Am glad that today is ending. hope tml will be better :)

The Happy (Kai-Xin) Doctor

today's lecture was very interesting, but the lecturer was even more interesting!

last week while grabbing a quick dinner at sgh kopitiam before class, i noticed this balding 50ish bespectacled tall guy sitting opposite me talking quite long on the phone. He was talking quite loud and in singlish chinese.

Lo and behold, he turned out to be the lecturer for my class! he introduced himself as a 'happy doctor' (which literally means 'open heart' in chinese cos he is a heart surgeon ). He is a super humerous guy and I was always awake during his lectures (super rare for me).

today he talked abt heart transplant. He asked us: what 'xin' (heart) he cannot cure? we scratched our head. Then he said: 'Hua-xin!(womaniser)' . Good one. Then he shared with us that he had a 40 year old patient who was transplanted with a 18year old heart, and the patient suddenly became very......erm....horny. The nurses were suddenly very scared to go his room cos every morning, he would have 'morning salutation'! The whole class, esp this bespectacled nerdy girl sitting in front of me, went laughing, but being sweet 16, I couldn't even catch the joke! My coursemate next to me had to explain to me. Wow, i am impressed, what a nice way to put it..morning salutation....i learn sth new again!

When the lecture was abt to end, the lecturer's hp suddenly rang and there was a 360deg switch, fm being humerous 'happy' doctor to a serious, 'dun fuss with me' senior consultant when he talked to the nurse. He had to rush back to hospital.

I really enjoyed his lectures. Even though he only taught me for 2 weeks, I would say he is the best lecturer I had for the past 5 years (4 years nus and 1 year ntu)! Someone with a such a high post and yet who showed absolutely no airs and also knew when to be serious and when to be a happy doctor.

Shopping yet again!!!

Combat Zone: BUGIS
Date/ Time: Sat 4pm
Comrades: 82sis, anti82 (& bf), FGM and TREE

1st stop, bugis shopping centre.
My idea cos 4pm the sun still hot and sunny. Being a fragile and vulnerable candy, I will melt in the sun so not wise to go shopping at bugis village yet. (Real reason: no $$$ to buy SKII now so must protect). Walked from first floor upwards. Ebase got sale but nothing much. Everywhere else NO SALE. sianz.

2nd stop: bugis village
Time check, 6pm, sun should have set. So we made our way to bugis village, my FAVE COMBAT ZONE! though it's a bit messy and hot and squeezy, but that's where all the cheap and nice (you must spend time to dig for the unique clothings) stuff are... What i bought:

1) Pink 'retro-looking' dress: $30
2) 2 Tights (white and denim): $20.70
3) Brown shoulder bag: $25
4) Little crown ring: $3

Total damage done: $78.70

Not that much, still within my budget, hehe. Went home tired but happy.

BOX

got this fm Igoogle's Love Quote of the Day

If you deceive someone, you lose one of life's greatest treasures, you lose the capacity to trust. Because without trust, love is not possible". Osho

Meaningful huh? :)

To JAM

8 days and counting

knock knock

been some time i have not been blogging, time really flies, now do a recap of the 'happening' stuff that happened last week.....

Supper with Coursemates
Last fri arranged with coursemates (iver, ken, pat) to have a makan session after lect at sgh where suppose to be near a lot of good food.

Iver recommended the Chinatown Market. Wah, alot of stalls selling cockles and stingrays. we ordered fm one stall, innermost corner stall. the stingray ($12) was YUMMY!!! but the cockles ($12) were quite a let down, all shells but no meat, bleah! we also ordered 'ao jian' (wats that in eng?), wah, super good, $4 but a lot of 'ao'!

Then i was still hungry, so the poor guys had to drive us to eat more food. then we went to tiong bahru hk cafe. Poor ken ordered some sage barley thing which looked (and taste i tink) super unappetising! but iver and pat ordered the mango drink ($5 each for a SUPER BIG GLASS) and those were good! chatted quite long on everyting under the sun, talk and talk, laugh and laugh.

Shopping with NYGH sisters
Sat went out with my nygh sisters (pam, qy and lj) for lunch and shopping.

Qy was earliest so she came to find me. I saw a white circular spot on her face, so i told her maybe it is some tissue. then she shrugged and said: it's pimple cream. Then i looked at her and hinted that it was a bit obvious. Then she said: aiyah, weekend supposed to be relac relac, and i must wait for the cream to 'seep' in first....That's Qy, the 'arty farty' and super indivualistic one among us, grinz. I managed to get her to wipe off the spot and when i told pam abt it, she almost rolled off the chair during lunch.........:P

Lunch was at taka the BREEKs restaurant, now they served korean food too called Zando. All of us ordered korean. My chicken kimchi noodle was spicy and yummy. Pat and Lj's korean rice 'bam bik' (sth like dat) also not bad, but lj commented that it is very hot, as in high temp. We girls talked and talked. and i think at some point of them, we laughed very loudly till everyone looked at us, and that happened at least 5 times...

My fave part, shopping!!! we combed zara (no sale, hence no 'sou huo' (harvest), before gg along the link to wisma, then combed F21 (i really liked a $48 silver tube dress, fits nicely but i must not buy on impulse!things ard $50 or above, i will come back the 2nd time to buy...haha)

Finally the COMBAT ZONE, FAR EAST basement! we gotta split up as there were too many 'easy targets' (cheap and pretty stuff!)

My damage done
1) White halter top with tube ($25.10)
2) Brown dress ($23.90)
3) grey sweater ($18)
4) Brown slippers ($15)
5) Blue tank top ($10)

Total damage done: $92

Combat SUCCESSFUL. Went home happy and satisfied.

Brotzeit, we gg to miss u jason!!!

The lead of today is our dear safety officer: JK! as he loves to drink, they had chosen a german restaurant (YEAH!) for food, beer and more beer!!! we made our way to brotzeit (in german is 'bread-time', interesting) after work, for once, everyone can leave on time, hehe. oh, all my mumSSS (of all sorts) went too, yeah, i feel so LOVED! but i was still lacking in fatherly love and a little in brotherly love, sighz

surprise surprise, guess wat did most of the girls order? not surprising, sausages...duh, which came in different sizes and thickness?!?! my mumSS even had names for each sausage dish, hehehehe. Seriously, the sausages were good, of cos the beer were good too.

midway, me went with fgM for a 'spin' which took ard 15min, but according to my dearest anti82 (who for some strange reason, loved to sit next to me,hehe), we took 30min for our 'spin'. F21 really had really niccccccccccccccceeeeeeeeee dresses, but too bad the prices weren't so nice. darn.

after brotzeit, we decided to eat MORE! so we made our way to the hk cafe upstairs where my fgM displayed her amazing 'cutting the toasted bread' skills. heng i was sitting near to Tree and hence ate her perfectly sliced french toast with peanut butter and maple syrup.

then out of no where, they started talking abt.......'kaka' (ghosts)! now i noe why my hostel mates like to stay up late to chat, watch tv, study, etc, cos hor sleeping early and alone may not be gd idea....after hearing those stories, i really admire my guts to stay hostel for the whole 4 years. hehe

usually this time at home, i would play my fave pc game: RAVENHEARST, but erm, i tink better not, if i want to sleep well tonite. if you catch no ball,u go and play ravenhearst with the music ON, then u would noe why. hahahahahas

RAtatouille

woke up amazingly late, at 1.30pm, with mum coming into my room and started suaning: wah, so good life hor, sleep until so late...

jam supposed to buy me lunch as usual, but looking at the time, we decided to meet straight at PS for lunch, as we are gg to watch our super-delayed cartoon: RaTaTouille. supposed to watch once it the movie is out, but the past weekends seemed to be quite busy.

the show is GOOD. it is really a FEEL-GOOD movie! the rat is oh-so-cute, wat's the rat's name?does he have a name? i can't rem...haha. For once, i am so glad i am no longer doing mice work, grinz

after the movie went jalan-jalan, my feet hurt frm my relatively new shoes, so i told jam that i need new shoes, which he tinks it is all an excuse, haha. aniawez, i am so happy that C&K are still having sale for selected shoes. The pair which i have been eyeing for quite a while did't have my size but 'sharp-eyed' jam managed to find a nice classy black pair, which was a steal at $20. i wore them right after i paid, and they are quite comfy too.

bought some sausages fm B2 (sorry, can't rem the name) for mum, which were pretty good too. $3.80 for sausage alone, $4.90 for sausage with bun and sauerkraut. :) then we went to parent's place to help out.

oh, forgot to mention that we spotted michelle chia and her bf at PS. i was buying my biscuits for my dear old comfort and when i looked up, i was staring right into this gorgeous hunk, which is the bf (also some actor, but i forgotten the name) of michelle chia. i din't really take a close look at michelle who is standing next to him. haha.

Weekend passes so fast......

Lazy sat

Woke up pretty early for a sat as dad bought by famous lakse for me and mum. Yummy! went to take a nap, wait for jam to come. today he bought famous carrot cake fm amk and my fave bubble tea. enjoyed the carrot cake while watching cable tv, nuah and eat and nuah and eat, sure get fatter and fatter...haha

at ard 7pm, we went to the pasar malam near at my parent's shop. so many malay food, see until luan. i tink the interesting ones are the halal 'you-tiao' and 'bwa kwa'. Jam bought the ramli burger, which i ended up eating cos was too delicious. i bought a kebab which is not fantastic yet cost a freaking $5, had to pass to Jam to eat. bought the TuTu kueh fm the famous stall, which I had been eating since young.

later helped parents tend shop while jam helped do so data entry for them. got home exhauested.

Sun Sheraton Tower and Novena Square

Sheraton Tower

me and jam signed up for the hotel lunch thingy as it was cheap, $28per couple including lunch. quite excited cos first time we go and attend such event. don't worry, no wedding bells soon, we just 'gian' for that lunch. haha

cocktail was time to walk around to see jewels, gowns etc, but we were more into enjoying their delicious appetisers which include salmon, goose liver and octopus complete with mocktails. grinz. one conclusion after walking ard and looking at all the stuff: wedding is so EXPENSIVE. other than dinner, need gown, jewel, photography and even spa/facial to look nicenice.

then we proceeded into the grand ballroom. wow, flying dutchman was the host, coolz! our 'cold dish' was served and was yummy too, got tempura prawn some more. it was followed by the double broiled soup, a healthy dish cos of the herbs but abalone was a tad too tough (and too small, ahha).

next was the emmanuel B bridal show. the models were gorgeous. of cos most of the gowns were stunning too. quite an eye-opener for us as we never see such close-up catwalks before.

this was followed by li bai's speciality noodles, where the prawns were very tender and soft. and the lunch ended with a bang: western plated dessert which is some CHOCOLATE MOUSSE, YUMMYx100!

the event closed with a lucky draw, which we never win anyting, as usual. oh well.

Novena Square

went to novena square after that. wow din't noe that now novena square is very 'sporty' , everywhere is sports shop, Fila, World of Sports, Outdoor Sports, Addidas, you name it you got it. the whole place was so 'sporty' that both of us got the sudden urge to run. haha.

oh, we din't noe there is a new novena square 2 where it is very 'korean'. A LOT of korean apparels. but what we loved best is the korean shop aka small marketplace on the 3rd floor. so many different types of korean tidbits and food, but a tad expensive. bought back a $3 kimchi for mum. Also bought some korean rice dumplings to try from the adjacent shop.

went home to rest abit before going to parent's shop to help out.

weekend passes so so so fast...............

photos fm night safari last sat

always look on the bright side of life :)

one of the songs that never fail to cheer me up :)

Some things in life are bad
They can really make you mad
Other things just make you swear and curse.
When you're chewing on life's gristle
Don't grumble, give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best...

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

If life seems jolly rotten
There's something you've forgotten
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps
Don't be silly chumps
Just purse your lips and whistle - that's the thing.

And...always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the light side of life...

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin - give the audience a grin
Enjoy it - it's your last chance anyhow.

So always look on the bright side of death
Just before you draw your terminal breath

Life's a piece of shit
When you look at it
Life's a laugh and death's a joke, it's true.
You'll see it's all a show
Keep 'em laughing as you go
Just remember that the last laugh is on you.

And always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the right side of life...
(Come on guys, cheer up!)
Always look on the bright side of life...
Always look on the bright side of life...
(Worse things happen at sea, you know.)
Always look on the bright side of life...
(I mean - what have you got to lose?)
(You know, you come from nothing - you're going back to nothing. What have you lost? Nothing!)Always look on the right side of life...

opps, jam did it again....

what supposed to be a nice relaxing sunday of shopping turned out to be quite a bad day, esp for jam. he did stunt again, this time hitting the car against the pillar while making a right turn on the way out of the condo. it was partly my fault too cos i was not helping to look out for me as i was busy applying my lipstick at that time...oh well oh well, he was quite shaken that i had to take over the driving after tat while he made frantic calls to his frens to ask ard for any car repair shop that opens on sunday. sad to say, no one works on sun!

aniawez, wats done to be done, so we still went with our plan for the day which is to go for the sun flea market at china square. turned out to be quite a simple flea market (though quite a number of stalls on 2 levels), most of them selling toys and figurines and only a few clothes stalls. but tink i got a nice long necklace at quite a steal for $12.

then we went to the famous soy sauce chicken coffeeshop near chinatown, i tink it is called 'chuang ji mian' , but not sure. my dad used to bring me to eat there when i was young. the soy sauce chicken is super good! jam also second that! but it was quite sad that most ppl there are of the older generation; those who have not tried should give it a try, grinz

then we went to central clark quay and walk ard. most of the clothes are 'taiwansy' and more to my 82sis style, which is good for me cos i save $$$. oh, we saw jamie yeo and i was quite surprised she is quite small size, defintely shorter (and of cos much slimmer) than me. i always tot she is of some model height.

was feeling tired after walking ard, maybe cos of the morning trauma. so decided to go home earlier to face the music and tell parents of the bad news. of cos mum nagged quite a bit cos this is the 2nd time jam did stunt to the car. but no big scolding, sighz, poor jam, $$$ fly again. guess i drive the car more from now...

oh, gotta help parents at the shop as hari raya approaching. sats wil be burnt. but at least sunday shd be able still able to grab some rest, hopefully ...

Saturday, September 8, 2007

we gg to the zoo zoo zoo, we love the zoo zoo zoo!

sat: finally a day to rest after a busy week of work and test, din't even have any time to look at websprees, play pc games and I even had to leave my dear pink psp at home one day, finally my long awaited sat!

woke up late and lazy. watched cable and treated myself to one-hour free trial of wedding dash. Manz, that game is so addictive that I played for one hour straight! then jam came with our super late lunch, mine was a super big packet of western chicken chop complete with coleslaw, baked beans, bread, fries and of cos, chicken chop while his is the usual, packet of chicken rice. Then we made our way to the Zoo for the'artic tale' movie screening!

'Artic Tale' at the Pavilion by the Lake (ZOO)
When we reached the pavilion by the lake ard 6.45pm (show is stated to start at 7.30pm), we saw hordes of families already on picnic mats and we realised that wow, it is really OUTDOOR screening....ERm, I was still thinking of those amphicentre with proper seats without aircon.Oh well, jam was thoughtful to bring along newspaper but piling the newspaper on the floor will look super out of place by the others' colouful big picnic mats. Luckily they sell picnic mats (table clothes actually)! phew. So we happily spread out the bright blue round checkered 'mat' and sat on it, took out our packet drinks and chips, waiting for the show to start.

The Artic Show is a documentary on the 'masters of the artic land', namely the polar bears and walrus, whole story narrated by Queen Latifah. Well, she can not only sing well, but also speak pretty well. Story was VERY moving, quite a number of scenes where one had to reach out for the tissue paper. sobsob. at the end of the movie, i think the message was sent out very well that all had to do one part to save the environment and let the masters of the artic land continue their way of life.

Apart from the crying kid behind me (who laughed everytime the polar bear appeared but started wailing once the big fat black walrus came on), the occasional moments where a poor mum had to stand up and bring her kids to the loo and a couple of technical glitches where the whole screen went black, it was an enjoyable movie experience, though i suffered a little from a sore butt after sitting on the cold hard floor. Next time I must bring cushions along. hehe

Night Safari
we made our way to night safari when the show ended ard 8.45pm. those with the 'artic tale' movie pass were entitled to 50% discount on the entrance tix and tram, so jam paid ard $30+ for both, cheap!

we went straight to catch the 'creatures of the night' show. the animals were well tamed and showed us many tricks, except for Ms Rebel OWL who insisted on clinging to a rope instead of flying to her trainer. She was on the rope for a good 10min and the poor show host had to keep sprouting off facts about owls to 'pacify' the audience. My fave part of the show was the cute little otters who can throw cans/plastics into recycle bins, they are oh-so-smart! we really enjoyed the 30min long show.

took a tram to go around night safari. alighted at east lodge to go onto the 'leapard trail'. Saw porcupines, leopards, lions, civets, owls etc. The night air was cool and breezy, hence making walking ard very relaxing.

Took tram back and along the tram got to see more animals, such as tigers, elephants, deers, etc. The commentar spoke so fast with some kind of accent that it's hard to hear out for interesting facts such as how heavy is an elephant (i have checked it on intenet, they weigh an amazing (4,500-6,000 kg)!!!)

There was a charity photography taking place near the exit and a donation of minimal $5 will allow one to take pics with any or all the animals there using own camera. so jam happily brought out his new panasonic camera and snapped away while I posed with the cheetah, rattle snake and owl.

had super late dinner the Bongsu burger outlet. So sad that the beef bongsu burgers were out, heard they are delicious. only the chicken burger and fish burger were left. Jam chicken burger was yummy but my fish burger was quite a let-down. oh well. but their fries are quite unique. Price is a little steep at ard $14 for a burger meal complete with coke and fries. but pretty worth it as it is super filling!

reached home ard 12.45am. super exhausted.

busy sat

last nite my sister prawn smsed me to meet up at 12 noon at ps, together with jac. so this morning gotta drag myself up early, at ard 11.30am. by the time i changed and gotten ready, it's already 1230. so i kept smsing to prawn that i am late. smsed her 3 times but no reply, i wonder whether it is because she angry. so i smsed jac instead and jac said she will reach ps about same time as me and she also smsed prawn many times, then jac and i suddenly gasped: prawn must be still sleeping, that's why never reply our smses!!!

aniwaez me and jac watched the 'high sch muscical' performance at the ps atrium, quite coolz. see little kids singing and dancing. very heng got this show thing cos i needed to buy present for my little cousin amanda for later her bday's celebration at her house. got amanda a pink top and pink pencil box. hehe. then me and jac went to eat lunch at long john. the new meal is very yummy! we waited for prawn till 2.30pm!!! she's late for 2and half hours. amazing. went to jalan jalan in ps for a while. then before i make my way to my little cousin's bday, i queued for ard 15min for the missy donuts at basement, never try before, but tot the kids will love them, so bought 2 packs of 6. i tried one apple strudel donut later, it is good! :)

went to aunt's place with jam and mum. wah a lot of food and bbq. i simply loved the duck which my uncle got back fm hk.hehe. i had the drumstick, yummy! then i also gobbled on the lobster and sotong and satay. eat and eat and eat.hehe. then me and jam played with my little cousins, they are oh-so-cute. i can never get bored playing with kids, they are SO adorable!!!:)

Demsey road is coolz!

It's fri, my fave day of the week, haha

Went for lec in ntu and today's class on modeling and how to apply modeling clinically. so we have this lecturer who did his phd in cambridge (wah!) teaching us abt thermography in breast cancer, about how the breast has to be 'seperated' into 5 segments with 32 zones and test the temperature on the different zones. he hopes that one day thermography can be used to act as 2nd opinion in addition to mammogram to screen for breast cancer.quite interesting.

after lec me and jam had macdonald in the ntu canteen. then we decided to join his colleagues at demsey road. we very suaku, dunno where is demsey road, heng the taxi driver noes. then when we reach, we noe why his colleague say it is very romantic place. cos it is SUPER DARK!#!#! poor us and taxi driver kept driving in circles to find the 'wine company', in the end our taxi fare came up to a amazing $17!!! I think we passed it 3 times before we realise it is the ONE. too dark and the restaurant sign super small. aniwaez, the red wine there is pretty good. and jam and his colleagues had a great time talking abt their fave topic: stocks.

got home ard 1am, heng face not very red fm the wine.hehe

long day at work

a busy day of helping users and risk assessment meeting till 6pm, then after 6pm gotta clear the registration emails, have been answering over 100 emails these days. today no one stayed later than 6pm, which i suspect is the 'mid-week' thing, i realised after asking ard that no one likes to say late on mid week.

aniwaez, since everyone left, i can switch on music, found some chinese songs in the shared folder and guess wat, there are so many oldies, such as 'one night in beijing' , that theme song fm the 'samsui women' drama (wats the song name huh? ) and even tian mi mi!!! since no one ard, i can sing along loudly with my 'beautiful' voice, haha.

stayed till 7.45pm, then shared cab home with my 82 sis, grinz

'One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: that word is love'

these days kindof busy, cos there's gg to be workshop next week and i am busy doing the registration for the seminar and practical sessions, trying to slot people into different timings...

after work went to meet mum and tog we went hospital to see aunt. Looking at my aunt today saddens me, the illness has changed her so much. Me, mum, cousin, uncle and aunt had dinner at the food court and though my uncle and cousin joked around, i noe they are putting on a brave front. Aunt ate very little, only 2to3 spoons of meesua, but she kept asking my uncle whether he is full fm his mee soto, urging him to eat more; and whenever my uncle cracked a joke, my aunt's eyes would light up, looking at him with a sense of admiration. This reminds me of a quote: 'One word frees us of all the weight and pain of life: that word is love.' Oh so true....

WEekend ComEs and GoEs so FAST!

Fri (#%^& test....)
Had a life support test, heng it was ok, probably cos i studied quite a bit for it (eg, missing yummy mala 'huo guo' with colleagues, missing watching tv and even missing playing psp/pc games to mug for it.....haha)

test just over, but got assignment le, due in 2 weeks, sighz

Sat (swim and tamp mall)

Woke up late, watched channel v to distress abit, am amazed at how 'teh' the 'hei se hui meimei' (taiwan variety show) is. all so saccharine sweet...

jam came and he wanna swim cos weather very hot and sunny and he happily put on his suntan lotion. But when we step into swimming pool, the weather suddenly turned cool and i was so happy cos i dun wan to get dark. heng. poor jam was grumbling throughout. hehe.

went to tampines mall to walk walk. got BIG isetan sale cos of renovation but did not see anyting we like. walked past la senza boutique and there is even BIGGER sale there, up to 70% off, but limited size and design... had late dinner at cafe cartel. we shared one meat lover's meal, very yummy followed by a waffle. happy that we got 10% off cos we are still students.hehe.

Sunday

Suntec invest fair

woke up and watched america's next top model, quite fun to see the girls bitching ard.grinz.

went to suntec with jam in the afternoon cos he wanna listen to the investment talks. had late lunch at food replublic at level 1 of the convention hall. food was good but costly. we esp loved the fried chicken maynoisse thingy from the dim sum stall, yummy!

the goodie bag for the invest fair is not bad, got mineral water, notepad, pen and even an invest magazine! one of the speaker for the investment fair is pretty good, called keane lee, some self made millionaire from stocks. one quotable quote from him: stocks going up is like climbing stairs; stocks going down is like jumping from building. oh so true. take home message from him is that : do homework before u play stocks.

KEN dinner

dinner went to jam's 'brother' ken place at sembawang. first time i went to sembawang. it's been a while since i last seen his 'brothers'. got a couple recently got attached and my first time seeing their gfs. grinz, ken's father cooked up a sumptious meal for us, got soup, got beehoon, got duck and got chilli crab!

Ken got a cute 1year plus dog called ah-boy, super super active. My dear old comfort used to be like dat but now comfort already 13years old... aniawez ahboy got a strange affinity to me, kept jumping up at me.... which i attribute to 3 possible reasons:
1) he must have sniffed comfort's smell on me, and dogs like dogs
2) i am the only girl wearing skirt at the place, and he is a young tikopek dog.
3) i am born in the year of dog and dogs like dogs.....

tired now. had a busy weekend. gosh,my PINK weekend is ending so fast, sighz, now another word starting also with P creeps slowly into my mind instead........projects......

Its NATIONAL DAY, Lets stand up for Sg!

Woke up ard 12am, parents had left me one sausage for breakfast, grinz.

Ate sausage, read ToDAY (wow the paper is very dedicated to National day and i rem a quote: 'wearing red on the nation's birthday is part of showing one's love for the country', so I made a mental note to wear red later...)

Jam came ard 3pm and as we were abt to leave for late lunch, the TV is showing 'MR WORLD'!!! We watched abit, with Jam sitting and looking sulky and disgusted at one corner. Wow, Sg representitave is not bad at all! The tanned, 'dragon-boater' kind. Even Jam agree that Sg one is good, too bad he never get into top 12. Some of the guys, or rather, most of the guys look gay, but its ok, they are nice to look at,haha. My hot faves are India and Brazil, hope they won!

Lunch was at the upper east coast famous prawn mee. I loved the prawn mee there, but it is super ex. $5 for one small bowl with ONE prawn and 3 pork ribs. Then again, its DELICIOUS! we also ordered some WuXiang along. Dessert was grass jelly for me and curry puff for JAM at a neighbouring stall called CurryPuff Bakery. According the Jam, the $1.50 curry puff is GOOD!

Proceeded to pray pray at the famous temple at si ma lu bugis street. We both first time there, so not really sure how to pray, as in which place to start first. Then went to OG, OG got 20% storewide sale, but the catch is that the 20% will be in form of voucher rebate. :( So we never buy anyting fm there. B

Time to eat again. Bubble tea + ice cream + famous rojak at the bugis market, need to queue one. The $2.50 rojak is darn good, but a tad too spicy. suddenly jam asked me: did u smell something funny? i said: ' its just some firecracker' and we carried on eating. In the end turned out to be a REAL FIRE at 3rd floor and 2 fire engines and police cars all came.

Went home to eat dinner and watch 'Live a dream'. Tired and thraot very itchy.

Ps. got a bad bad tummy the next morning. Prawn mee + wuxiang + grass jelly + bubble tea+ ice cream+ rojak = tummy also rojak

Scene: Chinatown market
HE: how about I order 'guo tie' for you all?
(Yan2 furiously nodded her head while Can still sulking at the absence of her much loved 'Paopao Tea with Pearls')

HE: Shall I tell you a riddle?
Can: Sure. (munching away on the free dumplings)
HE: This is a joke from reader digest.....but it is abit yellow.
(All eyes immediately turned to Wil, confident that he is able to answer the quiz)
HE: Why does mermaid wear Seashells?
(Silence followed. Surprisesurpise, Will cannot answer! )
HE: Cos A-shell too small, B-shell also too small, so Seashell!!!
(Can decided not to read reader digest from now on, as it will pollute her sweet 16 mind...)

Scene: Chinatown Partyworld KTV
Seating arrangement as follows, far most corner is Tree, followed by Ling, followed by him, followed by Wil, followed by Can sitting at one small corner who is still sulking at the absence of her paopao tea.

HE started singing. W0WWW, he can sing so well!!!He sang with so much FEEL!

3 Most memorable songs: They sang 'xu yan', 'zhi zhao lang man' and 'lian ai pin lui' so well. (much better than me and wil's Xiao Wei, Lian ai-ing etc)

HE (whispers to Can): The 2 girls sang so well. They are so good at singing. (Can n.ods her head, but abit sad that he is obviously hinting that Can sings horridbly bad.....Can made a vow to get intensive singing lessons fm her bf, Jam. )

All was singing very happily while Can munches on the wide spread of food, got lemon honey drink, got orange juice, got fries, got koropok, got sotong balls. The food was quite good, Can loves to eat!

Can looked at her watch, and was shocked to find out that it was already 10pm! Cinderalle needs to go back to get her beauty sleep!!! Can made attempt to say bye but was forced to sing one last song which was WU YAN DE JIE JU with Wil.....

~end of Can's script, pls refer to director Wil for sequel to the movie after wu yan de jie ju~

Ps: Can walks ard in office like a zombie the next day.

Looking at her carrying her 1-day-old dorshea with her hubby standing beside who is beaming with pride, one can only tink of one word: BLISS. Well hers is really a what ppl call an ideal family. Hubby is doctor, she herself is pharmacist and she has her first child at a young age of 25, and she plans to have 3 more. :P

Congratulations jillynn! me and the other 5 'sisters' will visit u and ur nu er again at your house soon. hehe.

做孩子 = to be a child or???

Lunch time went to eat with nanny, 82sis and 82antagonist.

Then we started talking abt kids and everyting cos i telling them my jc galfren gave birth to baby girl yest. Then i said sometimes 做孩子 is very good, then suddenly i realised something amiss, cos 82sis was giving me this super disgusted look.

Then i ask her why.

She said : cos u said 做孩子 ...

Then i replied: whats wrong with 做孩子??? being a child is good ma, no worries.

then i found out why, both she and nanny have tot otherwise. Heng 82antagonist tink like me, she also felt that 做孩子 is being a child. GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE.

Gosh 82sis, tot u supposed to be sweet 16??? how come tink so much?haha

What should i blog???

Gosh, I am now looking at my beautiful pink blogsite and i realise that *gasp*, i dun have things to blog abt?!?! Maybe this is what they call the 'writer's block' , i am experiencing it for the first time!

Today passed smoothly and shun shun li li. So what's there to blog? Hmm, let me think....

Shd I blog about my cute and a little elderly comfort who greets me when I come back everyday? Oh, he is 12 years le and when I bring him for slooooow walks (ard 1meter/min), he will be panting so much tat concerned passers by will ask: 'sorry, but is ur dog suffering fm heart attack?!' ChOi!

Shd I blog abt the handsome and rich doctor in 'jiayou jinshun' drama, and that is the ONLY reason why i faithfully rush home to catch it all the time?

Shd I blog abt the channel u talkshow on property and stuff where the property agents keep saying 'buy buy buy, sure huat huat huat'? of cos huat larz, they huat ma, not us....

Shd I blog abt my last weekend's attempt at creating 'smokey eyes' with my ELF 'dramatic' eyeshadow? heng the eyeshadow dun look too bad, at least i dun look like i have been 'K-ed' in the eye! grinz

Shd I blog abt last sat when patriotic me wore my bright red polka dot tube to join in the sea of red and 'stand up for Singapore' ? Oh, the fireworks at the end of the show was fantastic but the 'auntie' in me is more impressed with the goodie bag? got a cool akira hand-held fan that spins and glows with words, got 3-4 tidbits, got Sg songs CD and flag, got 2 packet drinks, got 1 mineral water, got an animal cap with blinking eyes, got 2 tissue packets and 3 wet towels, and even got a discount book?hehe

Oh no, i tink i got a sorethroat, must be talking too much at work these days, must try to keep silent and remain low-profile.........

My nanny's BACK!

Yeah, happy day, my pretty 'nanny' is back!!! Oh if u ask why she is nanny, cos she is pretty and got a HOT figure ma, so I wanna be like her. She dote on me the MOST in my workplace, so she is my NO.1 !!!

But my nanny very poor thing, she fell down during her australia trip, and her leg got bandage. See her limp, my heart also pain. I offered to bandage for her but hor, on second tots, better not, scarly bandage her ankle instead of her knee....keke. Hope she gets well soon and be able to put SKII on her face! :)

my 'first' blog *clapclap*

oh well, its not really my first blog, had other blogs but i just can't seem to have the determination to continue blogging,....cos lazy ma, haha

was really tired at work today cos did not sleep well. Hips suddenly cramp in the middle of nite, so painful until i tot appendicities. I almost wanted to knock on parents door to send me to hospital, but heng never. Then i realise that i ate too much last nite and to make things even worse, i slept on my side, so maybe the food cannot go down smoothly, all 'stuck' at my hips, so cramp?!? must go back and read my life science 'digestion' textbooks......
Came back fm work to watch 'jiayou jinshun' (even though its a typical 'poor girl meets rich AND HANDSOME' man korean drama, i am still hooked to it...) and the channel u travel show. I love the travel show. Looking at all the germany places, memories of my exchange there came flooding back. I TOTALLY regret not spending more time there !!! AArgh. REGRET!

alrighty, tired le, must sleep early today.

Ps:
this is a photo of me and Lixia taken last fri at sushi tei in raffles shopping centre. We have known each other since pri sch!!!
