sat: finally a day to rest after a busy week of work and test, din't even have any time to look at websprees, play pc games and I even had to leave my dear pink psp at home one day, finally my long awaited sat!
woke up late and lazy. watched cable and treated myself to one-hour free trial of wedding dash. Manz, that game is so addictive that I played for one hour straight! then jam came with our super late lunch, mine was a super big packet of western chicken chop complete with coleslaw, baked beans, bread, fries and of cos, chicken chop while his is the usual, packet of chicken rice. Then we made our way to the Zoo for the'artic tale' movie screening!
'Artic Tale' at the Pavilion by the Lake (ZOO)When we reached the pavilion by the lake ard 6.45pm (show is stated to start at 7.30pm), we saw hordes of families already on picnic mats and we realised that wow, it is really OUTDOOR screening....ERm, I was still thinking of those amphicentre with proper seats without aircon.Oh well, jam was thoughtful to bring along newspaper but piling the newspaper on the floor will look super out of place by the others' colouful big picnic mats. Luckily they sell picnic mats (table clothes actually)! phew. So we happily spread out the bright blue round checkered 'mat' and sat on it, took out our packet drinks and chips, waiting for the show to start.
The Artic Show is a documentary on the 'masters of the artic land', namely the polar bears and walrus, whole story narrated by Queen Latifah. Well, she can not only sing well, but also speak pretty well. Story was VERY moving, quite a number of scenes where one had to reach out for the tissue paper. sobsob. at the end of the movie, i think the message was sent out very well that all had to do one part to save the environment and let the masters of the artic land continue their way of life.
Apart from the crying kid behind me (who laughed everytime the polar bear appeared but started wailing once the big fat black walrus came on), the occasional moments where a poor mum had to stand up and bring her kids to the loo and a couple of technical glitches where the whole screen went black, it was an enjoyable movie experience, though i suffered a little from a sore butt after sitting on the cold hard floor. Next time I must bring cushions along. hehe
Night Safariwe made our way to night safari when the show ended ard 8.45pm. those with the 'artic tale' movie pass were entitled to 50% discount on the entrance tix and tram, so jam paid ard $30+ for both, cheap!
we went straight to catch the 'creatures of the night' show. the animals were well tamed and showed us many tricks, except for Ms Rebel OWL who insisted on clinging to a rope instead of flying to her trainer. She was on the rope for a good 10min and the poor show host had to keep sprouting off facts about owls to 'pacify' the audience. My fave part of the show was the cute little otters who can throw cans/plastics into recycle bins, they are oh-so-smart! we really enjoyed the 30min long show.
took a tram to go around night safari. alighted at east lodge to go onto the 'leapard trail'. Saw porcupines, leopards, lions, civets, owls etc. The night air was cool and breezy, hence making walking ard very relaxing.
Took tram back and along the tram got to see more animals, such as tigers, elephants, deers, etc. The commentar spoke so fast with some kind of accent that it's hard to hear out for interesting facts such as how heavy is an elephant (i have checked it on intenet, they weigh an amazing (4,500-6,000 kg)!!!)
There was a charity photography taking place near the exit and a donation of minimal $5 will allow one to take pics with any or all the animals there using own camera. so jam happily brought out his new panasonic camera and snapped away while I posed with the cheetah, rattle snake and owl.
had super late dinner the Bongsu burger outlet. So sad that the beef bongsu burgers were out, heard they are delicious. only the chicken burger and fish burger were left. Jam chicken burger was yummy but my fish burger was quite a let-down. oh well. but their fries are quite unique. Price is a little steep at ard $14 for a burger meal complete with coke and fries. but pretty worth it as it is super filling!
reached home ard 12.45am. super exhausted.
